At ICL, we have been producing high quality crystal optics for use in infrared spectrometers, accessories, and other analytical devices since 1962. We are the only U.S. company that produces KBr crystal, a standard component of infrared spectrometers. In house, we also produce the materials for other vital crystal optics such as KCl, NaCl, AgBr, AgCl, CdMnTe, and more. We also stock a large variety of spectroscopy optics made from other essentials like CaF2, BaF2, ZnS, ZnSe, Si, BK-7, etc. Discs are available in all of the common sizes, typically in the range of 20mm-50mm (for use as windows common to infrared sample cells and accessories). International Crystal Laboratories' short path gas cells and long path gas cells are designed for industrial and research applications for FTIR gas analysis. Each has different configurations. Short path length single pass gas cells constructed of electropolished 316 Stainless Steel, available in standard path lengths of 1cm, 2cm, 3cm, 5cm, 10cm and 15cm. Long path cells address the most demanding gas sampling requirements of industrial and field deployed FTIR and IR instrumentation. For applications requiring ultra long path lengths we offer our Saturn™ series multi-pass gas cells that range from 80 to 200 meters.

Sealed Liquid Spectrophotometer Cells - Model SL-15
(6) ICL's new RoHS compliant Model SL-15 sealed liquid cell (patent pending) features a unique sealing system employing fluoropolymer seals which enable us to produce precisely calibrated cells that completely eliminate mercury and lead amalgam seals from the fabrication process. These cells are fully compliant with RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC. The ROHS Compliant SL-15 can be employed in any general lab application, but the seal system is so robust that it is also suitable for high internal pressure environments such as flow cells used for viscous samples like oil. Where there are internal cell pressures as high as 40 psi, cells with suitable windows will remain leak free and maintain their path length integrity with long service life. Cells with windows that are insoluble in water can be pressure tested and certified to the customer’s desired specifications. Because the cell is so robust, the normal cell filling process that is required to avoid damage to standard lead mercury amalgam sealed cells can be skipped and users no longer have to fear for broken cell seals. The SL-15 can be modified to accept a number of inlet and outlet connections, but it comes standard with luer lok fittings. A sandwich cell consists of two (2) windows separated by a lead spacer that is amalgamated to the windows with mercury. The mercury lead amalgam is impervious to solvents and to virtually any sample. The spacer and windows form a sealed liquid sample compartment. Magneto Optical Materials - CdMnTe & CdMnHgTe
The ternary compound Cadmium Manganese Telluride ("CMT") is a magneto-optical material that is ICL's newest crystal product. This magneto-optical material has a giant Verdet constant. Potential applications for this material (as well as CdMnHgTe which is under development ) include Faraday rotation devices (optical isolators in the range 630nm to 1100nm ), LEDs, spintronicss, electro-magnetic interference free devices, field tunable phase shifters, small coupled solar cells for fly-by-light applications, phased array radar with completely fiber-fed antennae, bomb detonators and harsh environment sensors. At the optimal composition, absorption does not increase with pathlength (thickness) although transmission will vary. Absorption is composition dependent. The spectral data shown is for a 2mm thick sample. ICL's standard processing for CdMnTe is flatness of 1 l, parallelism of 30 arc seconds, optical surface quality 60-40, reflection loss with broadband AR coating < 0.05% at 880-1100nm, Max.
