The platens can be configured with spacers to make a film of a consistent path length.  The standard spacer provided creates a film thickness of 0.1mm, but custom spacers for specific thicknesses can be provided.  Platens configured for a spacer also have run-off grooves to accommodate the overflow of excess sample.
